Anthropic's Claude Fable 5 and Mythos 5 Temporarily Disabled Due to US Export Controls

Anthropic introduced its new, highly capable models, Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5, on June 9, 2026. These models were designed to offer significant advancements over previous versions, particularly in areas like software engineering, research, vision, and cybersecurity.

However, just three days after their launch, on June 12, the United States government issued an urgent export-control directive. Citing national security concerns, this directive barred access to these models by any foreign national.
