OpenAI Foundation Commits $50 Million to People-First AI Fund for 2026

Recognizing the strong demand and clear need for resources among nonprofits to engage with AI, the OpenAI Foundation has updated the focus areas and eligibility criteria for the 2026 fund. This includes expanding eligibility to certain community foundations and regranting organizations.

Applications for the 2026 People-First AI Fund are open from June 15, 2026, until July 15, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT. The fund is guided by the principle that access to AI is agency, aiming to empower nonprofits and communities in shaping AI's use for local priorities.
